The First 3D Map Documenting Russia's Forced Displacement of Georgian Civilians
Road to Home team created the first large-scale 3D map of the Chuberi route, showing how thousands of Georgian civilians were forced to flee their homes during Russia's war in Abkhazia. The map recreates the mountain crossing where families, children, and elderly people escaped through freezing conditions, many never making it to safety.
For three days, the exhibition was presented at the National Library of Georgia, where visitors explored the map alongside archival photographs, survivor testimonies, and documentary materials.
We created this exhibition so young people could see that what happened in Abkhazia is not just history. The same crimes are being committed against Ukrainians today, while Russia continues to spread disinformation to deny them.
History cannot change the past, but it can help protect the future.
